A Short story about us
In 1968, Vasili (Bill) Vlahos left his homeland of Greece, seeking a better life in Australia after the devastation of World War II. Alongside his wife Konstantina and their two children, Peter and Tas, Vasili courageously faced many challenging jobs, including heavy-duty Mechanical labor at General Motors, Building car seats at VW, and putting together mattresses at the John Springs Mattress Factory for minimal pay. Driven by ambition and hope, Vasili and his son Tas envisioned creating their own painting business, a dream shared by many immigrants eager for a fresh start.
Although the early years were tough—filled with long drives in search of work—their unwavering dedication soon built a reputation of deep respect, and work became abundant. In 1990, Vasilis's grandson Billy was born, proudly named in his honor, keeping alive a cherished Greek tradition.
At the young age of 12, Billy began assisting his father and grandfather on weekends, and by 19, he became an apprentice under these two master craftsmen. Beyond painting, Billy learned valuable skills in renovating homes, subdividing properties & building units, completing numerous projects alongside his father and grandfather over the past 15 years.
Sadly, in 2018, Vasili experienced a stroke that marked the end of his active painting days. Today, the business continues proudly through Billy and Tas.
Billy regularly visits his grandfather, sharing meals, memories, and gratitude for the decade they spent working side-by-side.
Together, Bill, Tas, and Vasili embody approximately 100 years of combined experience—true old-school Greek painters and renovators, representing the legacy of a distinguished era. At Tech Paint, we carry forward this remarkable tradition with passion, pride, and an enduring commitment to excellence.
